Selected work

[ Five chapters ]

Marmot

Part of an international team inside a global outdoor brand, first for EMEA, then global. Merch, workbooks, advertising and everything print, booth and store concepts, press kits, and photoshoots from scouting to art direction.

DELIS, Wiesbaden

A sandwich bar, deli and wine shop. The full concept, together with Janine Albrecht (photography and design) and Marco, the owner: marketing, content, copy, design and print, down to the tile colours and the fonts.

Einerseits Magazine

A safe space for local artists and creative visions. I started as graphic designer in 2020 and have been creative director since the 2023 rebranding: the feed, the podcast, the website and the sessions.

Free Spirit Hostel

The hidden gem in El Tránsito, Nicaragua. A surf hostel that needed merch people actually keep, signs painted by hand, and two months of social media that grew the following.

[ Creative visions for hospitality and the outdoors ]

A place where years of working hospitality, traveling & side quests come together in perfect harmony. I design the whole picture: the name, the look, the print, the post and the shelf it all sits on.

[ More work ]

More work,
smaller stories

A wine bar's feed, club nights, a hostel in Sri Lanka, a campervan rental and apps. Not every project needs a whole chapter, and a lot of my in-house work is confidential anyway. Open one to see more.

  • The vinothek and wine bar right beside DELIS, same collaboration. A feed that looks like the room feels: bottles photographed like objects, the regulars' tables, posters when they're hiring. Ongoing social media management.

Weinod Instagram grid, first twelve posts
Hand holding a bottle of Domaine du Pélican against a wall
Weinod Instagram grid, next twelve posts
    Hiring poster: Wir suchen Weinkenner
The room at Weinod with bottles on the tables
Bottle of Blanc on a concrete ledge
Someone carrying a bottle of Overnoy under their arm
  • Besser Samstag is club nights and a label. For one of its releases, Sless Praismo's Happy Hour (BS01), I helped design the sleeve: every track is a cocktail, the tracklist is the recipe, and the glasses stand on a mirror in pastel light. Around it: posters for the events, from Kreativfabrik to Walhalla im Exil.

Front of the sleeve: Sless Praismo, Happy Hour, four cocktails mirrored on a green to pink gradient
Back of the sleeve: A side and B side listed as cocktail ingredients
Besser Samstag and Friends Vol. 2 poster on a wall
Poster: Housebesetzung, Walhalla im Exil, 22 April 2023
Square sticker: Housebesetzung with a Spotify code
Poster: Gemeinsam Allein tour with Joeii, Kuba, Theo and Thomas Hase
Tour dates poster: Giessen, Hildesheim, Wiesbaden, Dahlheim
Stream overlay: Gleich gehts los, with a record and the Besser Samstag label
  • Everyone who has ever planned a group trip knows: it's stressful and a lot of work. As my bachelor's project I designed the UI for an app that makes it all easy. Splitting the bill, group chats, sharing locations, images, links and in-app votes. What restaurant are we going to? Let's vote! Who paid what? It's in the app.

    Weleave logo on white
Weleave app screens: trip overview, map and voting
Weleave app screens on three phones
Weleave screens on phones lying on a dark surface
Weleave splash screen, calendar and trip screens
  • As an internship, I helped redesign and restructure the Socialbnb website for a better user experience. I also created graphics, templates, merchandise and presentations, and built a B2B website.

Socialbnb website on a laptop: We connect people to create a better world
Socialbnb UI screens laid out in a grid
    Socialbnb toiletry pouch
    Socialbnb notebook and pens
    Socialbnb matchboxes
    Socialbnb 2023 wall calendar
  • A university project: an app for booking a spot to pitch a tent in someone's garden or park a van at a vineyard. User journey first, then the screens.

Campventure app screens on three phones
Campventure screens on phones on a pink background
  • A hostel-hotel with a gym, a rooftop and a café in Mirissa, Sri Lanka. Social media post design, flyers, posters and the café menu. Every part of the day got its own piece, all in the same coral.

Mira promo poster with a QR code
    Mira café menu
    Poster: 7AM Mat Pilates Club
    Poster: Ice Bath Party
    Co-working poster
    Activities sheet
    Mira YouTube channel art
  • My internship at a campervan rental. Social media management, content creation, flyer designs, posts, stickers, totes, shirts, the vehicle wrapping and a whole magazine about the vans and where they can take you.

Shaka Camper sticker set: Boom Shaka Laka, licence plate, shaka hand, hang loose and be happy
Tote bag: hang loose and be happy, with a van under an orange sun
Tote bag: Bereit für dein nächstes Abenteuer, with a round van badge
Two white shirts, front and back print with the van under a sunset
Tote bag covered in Shaka Camper stickers
Printed Shaka Camper magazine held up by a window
Magazine mockup: the Mahé spread with the Mercedes Marco Polo and its facts
Magazine mockup: aerial coast photo and the welcome page
Magazine mockup: The Big Guys spread, Ford, VW, Mercedes
Postcards: Let's hit the road with Shaka
Two white shirts: small logo on the front, Let's go on a trip together on the back
    Shaka Camper card deck
The finished van livery in gold on a white Mercedes Marco Polo, parked by a field

[ About ]

Based on a true story

I'm Mai, a nature-loving creative raised in a family of chefs, with a backpack never far away. Twelve years in hospitality, from our family restaurant to Canada and Australia, taught me how people want to eat, feel and enjoy life. Design for hospitality and outdoor brands is where it all comes together.

Today I work from wherever I land. Being outdoors and challenging myself keeps me balanced and taught me I can do anything. That spirit, and the people I meet on the road, end up in the work.

BasedEverywhere and nowhere. From Germany out into the world, the office is wherever I land.
